ABOUT THE SHOW
The forest is the world you live in; it is the environment through whose glades and lakes and caves and thorns and bracken you have traveled as you grew into who you are. this environment has shaped you as you have adapted to it—the forest is the landscape your experience has carved and crystallized, your native realm. in the forest’s depths you were exposed to danger, you discovered yourself vulnerable, and in the forest you learned how to survive. the forest is “the terrible place,” where threats coil in the shadows at the trees’ roots, in the ferns, in the dark water. your vulnerability took its form here. here, you have been afraid. but the forest can also be kind; its raw rich growth will provide you with the instruments to prevail over its hazards and its trials. here, you have taken shelter, you have become knowledgeable in the essentials of survival: what you need to light your course, to find your way out of the woods. this forest is inside of you, and your forest is not my own, yet it is here we we will find one another, tonight: in the forests.
